While not yet a federal holiday, it has been formally recognized by presidential proclamation and by many states as a time to celebrate the contribution of Indigenous peoples and acknowledge the enduring impact of colonization in the United States.<\/div>\n<p style=\"line-height: 160%\">Many other cultures and communities hold <a href=\"https:\/\/nzfestivals.com\/indigenous-festivals-world\/\">celebrations of Indigenous people<\/a> throughout the year, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rcaanc-cirnac.gc.ca\/eng\/1100100013718\/1534874583157\">National Indigenous Peoples Day<\/a> in Canada, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.papuanewguinea.travel\/hagen-show\">Mount Hagen Cultural Show<\/a> in Papua New Guinea, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apus-peru.com\/blog\/the-ultimate-guide-to-attending-the-qoyllur-riti-festival\/\">Qoyllur Rit\u2019i Pilgrimage<\/a> in Peru.<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 160%\">Boston resides on the ancestral lands of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/boha\/learn\/indigenous-stories.htm\">Wampanoag, Nipmuc, and Massachusett<\/a>\u00a0people.
