Current generations are working to honor the legacy of their ancestors through the <\/span><a style=\"text-decoration: none\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wlrp.org\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;line-height: 19.6px\">Wampanoag Language Reclamation Project<\/span><\/a><span style=\"line-height: 19.6px\"> and <\/span><a style=\"text-decoration: none\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=HnPKzZzSClM\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;line-height: 19.6px\">We Are Still Here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"line-height: 19.6px\">, a short documentary on indigenous youth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 140%\"><span style=\"line-height: 19.6px\">An important element of heritage months is taking time to learn more about different peoples and cultures, historically and today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 140%\"><span style=\"line-height: 19.6px\">Boston Common, for example, was the site of a devastating moment during <\/span><a style=\"text-decoration: none\" href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@marty.blatt\/public-memory-of-king-philips-war-b47ff7943d2e\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;line-height: 19.6px\">King Phillip\u2019s War<\/span><\/a><span style=\"line-height: 19.6px\">, when the Wampanoag leader Metacom allied with the Nipmuc and Narragansett tribes to form a resistance against English settlers. There\u2019s a pattern in the American theatre that mirrors centuries of broken treaties, forgotten promises, and surface-level gestures of inclusion.
