The 550- seat theater, a historic landmark in Central City, affords an intimate experience with operatic and musical theater. In addition to the mainstage season, Central City Opera is noted for its famed Apprentice Artist\/Studio Program, dedicated to the education and development of the young American singer. Positions as Festival Staffers\/Interns offer an excellent introduction to careers in arts management and opera production, as well as practical experience in specialized areas of interest. Many past Festival Staffers have gone on to successful careers in these fields.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DESCRIPTION<\/strong>: Fourteen positions as Festival Staffers are available for the summer season, with a full time commitment from May through August. All Festival Staffers serve as ushers during most performances and perform general duties throughout the summer including office support, garden watering, facility maintenance\/light cleaning and switchboard operation. Internship areas include: office\/music library, events\/party planning, public relations, gift shop assistance, house management, stage management, wardrobe, props and wigs\/makeup. In consideration for these positions, the Opera offers free shared housing with kitchen facilities, a weekly salary of $275 and a one-time travel stipend.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ELIGIBILITY<\/strong>: Concurrent or previous academic coursework or practical experience in those areas of interest and be a high school graduate. It is open to all students and faculty of theatre, film and media arts. Students of English and other related subjects are also welcome. The program offers security, expert guidance and some structure to the time in Scotland, combined with plenty of opportunities to explore the 24\/7 theatre scene by independently or in small groups.<\/p>\n<p>What is Classroom @ The Fringe? In a nutshell it\u2019s a 2 week residential course in Edinburgh during the Fringe in August 2014.
