In today\u2019s blog, we\u2019re highlighting ways Emerson is participating in Stress Awareness Month and provide tips on how to manage extra stress this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Emerson Events<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If finals have you stressed, consider joining in <a href=\"https:\/\/emconnect.emerson.edu\/event\/8774088\"><strong>Weekly Wisdom<\/strong><\/a><strong>,<\/strong> a grounding and meditation event offered every Wednesday. Open to everyone in the Emerson community, this event is a great way to take a short break and center yourself. Stop by the Reflection Room at 9am to start your day de-stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A finals season tradition for Emerson, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/emconnect.emerson.edu\/event\/9036675\">Cirque de De-Stress<\/a><\/strong> is a time to pet some adorable dogs, join in meditation, and grab some snacks. Here you\u2019ll find information about the <a href=\"https:\/\/guides.library.emerson.edu\/StressAwarenessMonth\/EmersonResources#:~:text=We%20have%20two,you%27re%20stressing%20out.\"><strong>library\u2019s new sensory items<\/strong><\/a> for stress reduction, suggested books about anxiety management, and some <a href=\"https:\/\/guides.library.emerson.edu\/StressAwarenessMonth\/EmersonResources#:~:text=Emerson%20Groups%20and,the%20Emerson%20community.\"><strong>Emerson groups and centers<\/strong><\/a> that support students during stressful times. If you ever feel your life stressors are too much to handle on your own, the Wellness Center offers a variety of <a href=\"https:\/\/emerson.edu\/departments\/emerson-wellness-center\/counseling-services\"><strong>counseling services<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong> You can see them for group therapy, individual therapy, consultations, and more. They also offer limited psychiatric services and counseling for substance use concerns.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We know <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/healthy-lifestyle\/stress-management\/in-depth\/stress-symptoms\/art-20050987\"><strong>stress can also affect your physical health<\/strong><\/a> too. If stress has taken a physical toll on you recently, you can always stop by the Wellness Center for <a href=\"https:\/\/emerson.edu\/departments\/emerson-wellness-center\/health-services\"><strong>health services<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong> These services are available to all grad students who have paid the Student Health Fee or are enrolled in Blue Cross Blue Shield Student Health Insurance. You can see them for minor illnesses and injuries, immunizations, a consultation with a registered dietician, and more.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To keep up with the Wellness Center, be sure to check out their blog, <a href=\"https:\/\/emwellhub.com\/\"><strong>EmWell<\/strong><\/a><strong>,<\/strong> and <a href=\"https:\/\/emerson.edu\/departments\/emerson-wellness-center\/contact-us#:~:text=Social%20Media,our%20YouTube%20playlists!\"><strong>follow them on social media<\/strong><\/a><strong>!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Healing &amp; Advocacy Collective<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Founded in 2014 as a result of student activism, the <a href=\"https:\/\/emerson.edu\/departments\/healing-advocacy\"><strong>Healing &amp; Advocacy Collective<\/strong><\/a><strong> <\/strong>offers support, advocacy, and counseling for individuals impacted by power-based interpersonal violence. They offer excellent, confidential support to students year-round. Today we\u2019ll highlight a few of their resources that might be helpful during Stress Awareness Month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking for a furry friend to pet? Melanie, the director of the Healing &amp; Advocacy Collective, brings their therapy dog, Truman, to campus on Fridays for<strong> <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/emconnect.emerson.edu\/event\/8845203\"><strong>Truman Time<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong> This is a great time to de-stress and pet an adorable furry friend.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to Truman Time, the collective offers <a href=\"https:\/\/emconnect.emerson.edu\/event\/8845713\"><strong>weekly trauma-informed yoga classes<\/strong><\/a>, which are open to all Emerson students. For example, for some people self-care looks like waking up a little earlier to clean and making sure they have school deadlines written in their calendar. Others prefer to self-soothe for their self-care activities. Sitting outside and meditating, doing a face mask, or calling a loved one are all great options. Whatever self-care looks like for you, setting healthy boundaries and giving yourself time to engage in self-care is key for managing stress.
