Many of the applications for Emerson\u2019s graduate programs are now open. As with any school, you may be wondering, \u201cWhat\u2019s special about Emerson?\u201d or \u201cIs graduate school worth it?\u201d In today\u2019s blog we\u2019re going to highlight some of the reasons why you should apply to Emerson\u2019s graduate programs.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Here at Emerson, graduate students form lifelong friendships. You can find community\u00a0 through our clubs and organizations<\/strong><\/a>. Some popular clubs include the International Graduate Student Union (IGSO)<\/strong><\/a> and EBONI<\/strong><\/a>,<\/strong> Emerson\u2019s Black Organization with Natural Interest. IGSO regularly hosts fun events like bowling night, and you don\u2019t have to be an international student to participate! It\u2019s a club for any and all Emerson graduate students to come together and relax outside of school. EBONI is another wonderful organization that built a community around political, cultural, and professional empowerment of Black Emerson students. Formal organizations aren\u2019t the only way students connect at Emerson. Each graduate program has a designated student lounge where students can meet people in their cohort and chat between classes. If you\u2019re looking to connect with people across graduate programs, check out the <\/strong>general graduate student lounge<\/strong><\/a>, which is open to all Emerson graduate students.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students in online or hybrid graduate programs also have ample opportunities for connection. Students often exchange phone numbers during orientation and meet remotely to socialize or work on school projects. Emerson\u2019s primary campus is located in the heart of downtown Boston. Known as one of the nation\u2019s most walkable cities<\/strong><\/a>, <\/strong>Boston is easy to navigate and full of culture. Located in the middle of the Theatre District<\/strong><\/a> and a short walk from Chinatown<\/strong><\/a> and the North End<\/strong><\/a>,<\/strong> Emerson is in the hub of Boston\u2019s art and food scene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being an Emerson student in the city gets you <\/strong>plenty of perks<\/strong><\/a>, such as discounts at museums, restaurants, and shows in the Theatre District. Students can score discounted tickets to Red Sox games throughout the season. Home to multiple renowned sports teams, Boston is a great city for lovers of baseball, football, hockey, basketball, and more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to our vibrant Boston campus, Emerson has a campus in Los Angeles<\/strong><\/a>. Students in the Writing for Film and Television<\/strong><\/a> program will have two of their week-long in-person residencies at the LA campus. Home to the nation\u2019s film and entertainment industry, Los Angeles is an invaluable place for future screenwriters to study. When you join the Emerson community, you gain access to an exclusive network of industry professionals, both in LA and Boston. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
