{"id":4823,"date":"2022-02-07T12:00:31","date_gmt":"2022-02-07T17:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/websites.emerson.edu\/itg\/?p=4823"},"modified":"2023-02-02T15:12:42","modified_gmt":"2023-02-02T20:12:42","slug":"congratulations-to-the-fall-graduates-of-accessible-design-udl-for-your-emerson-course","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/websites.emerson.edu\/itg\/congratulations-to-the-fall-graduates-of-accessible-design-udl-for-your-emerson-course\/","title":{"rendered":"Congratulations to the Fall Graduates of Accessible Design: UDL for Your Emerson Course"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Please join us in celebrating Daniela Kukrechtova (who worked on improving 2 courses!) and Richard Chetwynd, who completed Accessible Design in Fall 21.<\/p>\n<p>Some courses saw dramatic improvement in Ally scores (67% to 93%!), while in other courses the improvements were more <a href=\"https:\/\/websites.emerson.edu\/itg\/tidying-up-canvas-to-help-students-stay-organized\/\">organizational.<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The type of things faculty worked on:\n<ul>\n<li>Deleting unnecessary files, making it easier for students to find what they need<\/li>\n<li>Making the course clearer and easier to navigate by adding navigation guidance to the front page<\/li>\n<li>Adding clarifying language in the syllabus<\/li>\n<li>Reworking the syllabus to be directly in Canvas<\/li>\n<li>Using Canvas calendar events<\/li>\n<li>Running the accessibility checker on all Canvas Pages<\/li>\n<li>Adding alt text to images<\/li>\n<li>Redesigning the final project to give students agency over what they create<\/li>\n<li>ITG remediated 16 PDFs, and helped faculty find alternate (more accessible) formats for others<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There will be 2 sessions of Accessible Design this semester. <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/iDnDevtMVAj6GSPY7\">Please join us<\/a>!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Monday February 7th &#8211; Sunday March 6th<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Monday April 4th &#8211; Sunday May 1st<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Please join us in celebrating Daniela Kukrechtova (who worked on improving 2 courses!) and Richard Chetwynd, who completed Accessible Design in Fall 21.
