The most dramatic\u00a0<span class=\"il\">new<\/span>\u00a0feature is the split screen. Users will now be able to open responses to a comment thread on a side window, while keeping the main\u00a0<span class=\"il\">discussion<\/span>\u00a0board on the left side of the screen. We wrote this post to let you know about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/websites.emerson.edu\/itg\/learning-curves-in-new-discussions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/websites.emerson.edu\/itg\/learning-curves-in-new-discussions\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1724521598653000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0st0T3Q2mRbCexB6zq08Cv\">the main concerns early adopters cited<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"padding-left: 80px\">One bug to note<\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In some discussions, the \u2018<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Disallow threaded replies<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2019 boxes were checked. That means that students are not able to respond to each other&#8217;s comments, only to the main discussion post. If you like students replying to each other, please make sure the box is unchecked in your discussion settings! You can <a href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/t5\/Instructor-Guide\/How-do-I-manage-my-Inbox-settings-as-an-instructor\/ta-p\/609342\">set up an out-of-office message and a signature.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>WordPress:<\/h2>\n<h3 style=\"padding-left: 40px\">Major update: block editor!<\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/support.emerson.edu\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/205483445-Getting-Started-with-WordPress#h_01J5X7VQBSWWXDZYNZAQR5G44R\">new block based editor replaces the classic WordPress editor<\/a> and is a significant change in how content is created. With the block editor, you can add multiple media types and arrange the layout within the editor. We\u2019ve enabled the block editor as the default editor for new sites. Site administrators can enable\/disable the availability of classic editor and block editor on their site, and can allow switching between the two.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"padding-left: 40px\">New themes<\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px\">We\u2019ve added four new versatile and accessibility-ready themes: <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/themes\/modern\/\">Modern<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/themes\/twentynineteen\/\">Twenty Nineteen<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/themes\/twentytwenty\/\">Twenty Twenty<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/themes\/twentytwentyone\/\">Twenty Twenty-One<\/a>. While most accessibility tools are designed for developers and often require knowledge of code, Sa11y is designed for content authors and focuses on content related issues. Sa11y will appear to logged-in users with edit privileges when you view your site, and will point to accessibility issues you can fix.
