November 2017 Award of Excellence Winner

November’s Award of Excellence winner is David Suvak (Athletics). He started at Emerson in 2007 as a volunteer assistant coach on the men’s soccer team with Jared Scarpaci. After coaching with Scarpaci for three years, he was offered the head women’s soccer coach position when it became available. 

Suvak serves on the Campus Climate Committee and has completed the Inclusive Excellence in Action workshop that is offered by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. He is proud that his soccer team has won the Team Academic Award from the United Soccer Coaches for the past 12 years. The 2016–2017 team had a combined GPA of 3.67.

Suvak said of winning the award, “Winning this award is a tremendous honor. I believe I work with many amazing colleagues and coaches in Athletics. We all work very hard to create a positive playing environment in our respective sports. I am proud to be a part of the Athletics Department here at Emerson College.”
