  • Staff enjoyed visiting the replica of the Friends Central Perk set in the Cutler Majestic lobby September 19–23. The replica was one of 30 found around the globe to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the hit TV show.
  • Campus Life staff (some of whom are pictured below) welcomed approximately 1,100 first-years and transfers this year. Staff hosted more than 80 events for the new students during Orientation.

  • Mark your calendars: The next staff forum is November 6, 2:00–4:00 pm, in the Bordy Theater.
  • Check out these upcoming Sustainability excursions (open to all staff, faculty, and students). Click on the links to register:
On October 5, 9:15 am–12:30 pm, Emerson is joining the Somerville Conservation Commission and the Mystic River Watershed Association to pick up trash at Draw Seven Park as part of the annual state-wide COASTSWEEP cleanup. The group will take public transit and leave from/return to Piano Row.
On October 22, 8:30 am–12:30 pm, the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy has a morning volunteer maintenance project for Emerson. Maintenance projects involve tasks with park infrastructure and hardscapes, such as masonry and cleanups. The group will walk over from Piano Row.
On November 8, 8:45 am–1:00 pm, Emerson is heading to Deer Island to learn about wastewater and see the historic pump station. The group will visit the South System Pump Station, Digester Road, and the disinfection/discharge area. There’s even a wind turbine onsite. Attendees will take a minibus leaving from/returning to Piano Row.
