  • David Todd (Student Transitions and Family Programs) won the Professional Spotlight Award at the NODA Region 7/8/9 Conference for his educational session on “Creating an Anti-racist Practices Session for White Students during Orientation.”
  • Tim Douglas (Academic Advising) won “Best of Region” for his session “Collaborative Interaction: Using ‘Yes, And’ in Academic Advising,” which he presented at NACADA’s 2021 Virtual Region 1 and Region 2 Conference. He has been invited to present this session at the 2021 NACADA Annual Conference in Cincinnati this fall.

  • Christopher Stetson Wilson (Journalism), who is an MFA in Creative Writing candidate, won second place in the fiction category in this year’s WLP Graduate Student Awards.
  • Shaylin Hogan (Graduate Studies) was sworn in as secretary-treasurer of SEIU Local 888 on May 1.
  • Maureen Hurley (Student Transitions and Family Programs) is co-author of a book, College Ready 2021: Expert Advice for Parents to Simplify the College Transition, which will be released on Amazon in June.
  • Bob Parks (IT) adopted an eight-year-old cat named Bob at the end of April.
