Profile: Eric Glaskin

Eric Glaskin

Talking about money can be intimidating and difficult, but Eric Glaskin, the senior associate director in Student Financial Services, approaches it with kindness, patience, and a whole lot of creative problem solving.

Glaskin grew up and still lives on the South Shore of Massachusetts. He earned a Bachelor of Science in marketing and liberal studies with a concentration in media arts and society from Bentley University and a Master of Education from Northeastern University. While working as a student employee in the Financial Aid office at Bentley, he discovered a passion for helping others through the financial assistance process. After graduation, he worked in Financial Aid at Wentworth Institute of Technology and the American Career Institute before joining Emerson in 2013.

In his current role, he manages the undergraduate student financial aid file review process, meets with students and their families to discuss their financial aid questions and concerns, and presents financial aid information to prospective students and families during accepted student events. He assisted with the build and implementation of Workday for Student Employment and lead system maintenance and also helps his colleagues with technology concerns. He was instrumental in developing the Senior Success Fair to help graduating seniors understand the necessary steps for a successful transition to graduation.

Additionally, Glaskin is a familiar face when Pride comes to town; he has co-coordinated Emerson’s participation in the Boston Pride Parade since 2015. He has also been known to celebrate special days (like National Bagel Day, National Pie Day, birthdays, and decision drop days). He helps bring life and spirit to the Student Financial Services team and the Enrollment Management division as a whole. When asked what he enjoys most about working at Emerson, he replied that he particularly enjoys the College’s openness to new ideas as well as the ability to work with colleagues in different divisions and departments.

In his spare time, Glaskin is an avid theatergoer. Between Broadway and Off-Broadway tours, out-of-town tryouts, and regional productions, he has seen 164 musicals and plays. He also spends a lot of time with his friends and family and enjoys cheering on professional Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. He said, “My head is full of random pop culture trivia and acts as an iPod shuffle, never knowing what song I will start singing next. I love watching movies and have amassed a collection of about 500 DVDs.” Put him to the test…his knowledge will astound you!
