Happy Pride Month, Emerson!
Pride is celebrated throughout the year but particularly in the month of June as a reminder of the first Pride march, which took place on June 28, 1970. The march was a momentous occasion that marked the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots and continued the call for equal rights.
Throughout the world in June we recognize, remember, and celebrate Pride Month. In Canada, the month of June is also Indigenous History Month. This month encourages us to amplify the intersectional beauty of our two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, and questioning community members and allies.
Pride Month brings joy and time for celebration. It also remains a necessary reminder that we must continue to reinforce our Emersonian values of equity and inclusion for all.
Whether you join the Emerson community at this year’s Boston Pride Parade, explore the Pride LIVE! events in Hollywood, visit locations around the Netherlands celebrating Pride Month, or make time to learn more about the history of the movement, join us as we celebrate Pride Month.
To our LGBTQ+ community members, we celebrate you and hope you find joy this month and all year round.
