First-Generation College Student Day – Nov 2025

First-Generation College Student Day, celebrated annually on November 8, commemorates the signing of the Higher Education Act (HEA) of 1965. The act established federal financial aid programs to help students fund their education and made significant investments in colleges and universities.

A first-generation student is the first in their family to attend or complete college. More than half of all undergraduate students in the United States are first-generation.

Emerson is proud to support its first-generation students!

Learn more about Emerson’s First Generation Student Success Program and join us for an exciting series of events on both Emerson’s Boston and Los Angeles campuses.
