Becca Turner Goes to Show: Becca Turner Goes to College
“Becca Goes to College” is the pilot episode of an 8 episode mini-series titled Becca Turner Goes to Show. Shot in a mockumentary-style format, Becca Turner Goes to Show follows the life of a self-absorbed college student who wishes to be accepted by her peers.
This comedic series stays true to the standard 22-minute sitcom format by incorporating an industry-style screenplay outline and storytelling techniques from sitcoms such as “The Office,” “Parks and Recreation,” and “Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous.” This project is independently funded and will be sent to various film festivals, sponsors, and agencies.
Story Line: The first episode of Becca Turner Goes to Show is titled “Becca Turner Goes to College.” As the title states, the protagonist Becca Turner enters college but quickly learns how difficult it is to connect with her peers. Desperate to make friends, Becca tries everything in her willpower to form connections including joining various clubs, attempting to get along with her roommates, and eventually hosting an unsuccessful party. Blissfully unaware, Becca believes that everyone else is the problem when – in actuality – her behavior drives people away. With elements of witty dialogue, slapstick comedy, and heartfelt-moments, “Becca Turner Goes to College” captures the difficult transition to college with a satirical and off-beat undertone.
