April Update: Sustainability Action Plan

Dear Emerson community,

As the semester winds down, our Sustainability Action Planning is still going strong! Here is our progress report for the month of April.

On April 11, all six working groups got together for a hybrid Sustainability Action Plan Summit. Each groups’ facilitator presented the goals and strategies generated by their group and members of the other groups provided comments and questions. Throughout the session, we found areas for increased clarity, better connections between strategies, and ways to raise our level of ambition.

As we head into summer, we will work on bringing the six unique plans together into one cohesive roadmap for sustainability at Emerson. During this process, we will also take a close look at which of the College’s strategies and which Sustainable Development Goals our proposed work supports.

This week, Emerson will be presenting alongside a few other local institutions on a webinar about our sustainability action planning. We have been fortunate to pursue this work as a member of the Green Ribbon Commission’s collaborative climate action planning cohort. We’ll be discussing the benefits of our participation in that program with a few other cohort members, past and present.

As always, please get in touch with sustainability@emerson.edu with any questions and remember that you can submit an idea or question anonymously at any time using the virtual suggestion box.

Sincerely,

Jen Lamy, Associate Director of Sustainability
