November Update: Sustainability Action Plan

Dear community,

The Sustainability Action Plan process is officially underway! Over the past two weeks, each of our six working groups met for the first time. In these 90-minute meetings, the teams got to know each other, reviewed baseline information about where we stand on various sustainability metrics, and began brainstorming ideas for how to move us forward.

As a reminder, these six working groups are focused on:

  • Emissions
  • Resilience
  • Equity and justice
  • Waste
  • Curriculum and research
  • Finance

In January, the teams will regroup to pick up where they left off and begin converging the various ideas into goals and strategies. They will meet again in February and March as individual working groups and then will come together as a full planning team in April to hash out final details of our recommendations.

Are you just realizing now that you wish you had signed up to be part of this process? Just reach out to sustainability@emerson.edu and we’ll get you plugged in. Remember, too, that at any time you can submit comments and ideas through the virtual suggestion box here.

This Thanksgiving week, I am grateful for the commitment shown across this community to ensuring that Emerson is a sustainability leader for years to come.

Thank you all,

Jen Lamy, Campus Sustainability Manager
