Tools Available for Research and Scholarship

The following research programs and applications are available for Emerson faculty, staff, and students:

ATLAS.ti. Atlas.ti is a qualitative data analysis (QDA) tool that helps researchers manage, code, and visualize large amounts of unstructured data like text, audio, video, and images. To request a user account via Emerson’s institutional subscription, send an email to researchhub@emerson.edu.

Qualtrics. Qualtrics is the College-approved application for designing and sending surveys. With the Qualtrics Research Suite, you are able to build and distribute your survey, analyze and report on your results, and collaborate in real-time in an easy to navigate web-based interface. Standard access to Qualtrics is available to all Emerson users via Duo at qualtrics.emerson.edu.

IBM SPSS. IBM SPSS Statistics is a comprehensive statistical analysis platform used to solve business and research problems by employing ad hoc analysis, hypothesis testing, and predictive analytics. Users utilize IBM SPSS Statistics to understand data, analyze trends, forecast, and plan to validate assumptions and draw accurate conclusions.

SPSS is available in all of the College’s Apple-equipped computer labs. Additionally, faculty, students and staff can purchase the downloadable version for a significant discount via the Emerson College Software Center.

Zotero. Zotero is a citation manager – a program used to keep track of the references you use in a project, then output them in a variety of formats. You can use it to create footnotes, endnotes, in-text citations, and even full bibliographies. Zotero can be accessed on any computer in the Iwasaki Library, or downloaded to your personal computer.

ProQuest Pivot. Pivot is a comprehensive funding opportunities database that curates grant competitions worldwide and across all disciplines. It also includes a suite of tools to support research collaborations. Users can create customized funding searches, create their own weekly email funding alert, curate lists of funding opportunities, search for potential research colleagues, and match profiles to funding opportunities. Emersonians can create a user account by logging in with their Duo credentials here and selecting “Emerson College” from the drop-down list of institutions.
