Welcome to Pub Club!
Hello! Welcome to Emerson College’s Undergraduate Students for Publishing (or “Pub Club”) web page.
*and pardon our dust while we set up this page!*
We are a student-run organization that produces two 50-80 pages books per semester. These novellas/collections of poetry/memoirs (and anything else that may be submitted in the future!) are submitted from students in the Emerson community. Pub Club members get to vote on which books to publish, and then break down into teams: the substantive team developmentally edits the book, the copyediting team copyedits, the design team designs both the covers and the interiors of each book, and the marketing team markets the books to many Emerson-specific outlets. We have a book launch at the end of each semester to celebrate the freshly printed books (and the brand-new authors!), along with our teams of creative students who have helped breathe life into each book.
We are also home to a little magazine called Generic, a genre-fiction-only literary magazine published biannually. Generic also hosts genre fiction nights once a month, which helps to introduce genres to interested writers in the Emerson student community.
We have many events as well that are hosted by Undergraduate Students for Publishing. We love to invite professionals from the community to come in and talk to our club about their hand in the publishing world! We offer a variety of different events that change every semester, so be sure to check back to see what exciting events are coming up soon!
We also have a blog! Wow, we really do have it all. Our blog is home to some great book reviews, some industry news, and some overall fun posts about what we really love – books!
Check it out, and if you have any questions, check out our contact page!
