Wilde Press Spring 2021 Audiobooks
Olivia Smith // Pub Club Vice President
The Destruction of One, Penelope Evans by Isabella Rodrigues and Rootlines by Kelsey Day are the latest books in the Wilde Press catalog. However, these publications stand apart from their predecessors: they are available in paperback, ebook, and, for the first time, audiobook.
Audiobook production is the latest undertaking in Pub Club’s dedication to accessibility to its readers and learning opportunities for its members. Through trial and error, this semester’s audiobooks will be the first in a line of many that will only improve over time. The hope is that this new project will be integrated into Wilde Press to be a consistent team, similar to how the copyediting or digital teams are. However, these two audiobooks could not have been possible without Sonny Aronow, WECB, Brandon Lebel, and the voice actors.
These books would not have been recorded had Sonny provided equipment savvy and direction. During a semester where recording spaces were nonexistent, WECB’s generosity in allowing Wilde Press to use their equipment was unparalleled. Of course, the audiobooks would not have been finished were it not for Brandon’s post-production work. Special credit is also due to the voice actors, Andi Smith (The Destruction of One, Penelope Evans) and author Kelsey Day (Rootlines).
As with our ebooks, our audiobooks will be free of charge. They can be accessed here. Stay tuned this fall for more information on how to join the Wilde Press Audiobook Team.
