Did You Know: Canvas Lets You Update Files!

Updating your Canvas course semester to semester can be exciting. It can also be tedious when it comes to tasks like deleting old, inaccessible files, and uploading the new accessible version, and then updating all links. There is a better way! You can replace files, and all the links in your Canvas class will be updated automatically. 

Here’s how you do it: 

1. Make sure the name of the file you are about to upload is the same as the file you’re looking to replace.
2. Upload the new file to the Files area in your Canvas course. When you upload a file with an identical name to a file in the Files area, the Copy popup appears.
3. Click the Replace button, and Canvas will update your file in the Files area and everywhere the file is linked in your class.
